I’ve said to my readers many times, a black man is killed by police in America, every 28 hours…EVERY TWENTY EIGHT HOURS!!!!
On August 5th, John Crawford III died in a hail of gunfire from five officers Beavercreek Ohio, after police responded to reports of an armed man at a Dayton-area Walmart. Crawford was not armed — he was holding a pellet gun, which he had picked up in the store’s toy department.
Surveillance video from an Ohio Walmart shows that the man was fatally shot by police when he had his back to officers and was talking on a cell phone, an attorney for the man’s family says.
Attorney Michael Wright said that the video, which he was allowed to view with the man’s family, contradicts statements by police and witnesses that Crawford ignored commands to drop the gun and “looked like he was going to go violently.”
“John was doing nothing wrong in Walmart, nothing more, nothing less than shopping,” Wright said in a statement. He said the 22-year-old father of two was shot “on sight” in a “militaristic” response by police.
LeeCee Johnson, the mother of Crawford’s children, was on the phone with him when he was shot, she told the Dayton Daily News, “[The] next thing I know, he said ‘It’s not real,’ and the police started shooting and they said ‘Get on the ground,’ but he was already on the ground because they had shot him… I could hear him just crying and screaming. I feel like they shot him down like he was not even human.”
Why was there on outrage? Because, it’s business as usual. It confounds me that the murder of Mike Brown reached the media, sparking the protests. The Beavercreek Police Department kept it under wraps and evidently the witnesses, including the person who made the emergency call felt that it was okay, after all, the police only kill young black men; so what’s the big deal??!!Just add John Crawford III to the f*&king list!! (I’m sorry but I am pissed!!!) Why aren’t you???
Where is Reverend Al, MSNBC, Chris Matthews, Anderson Cooper, CNN…..George Stephanopoulos…Rachel Maddow??? Where are all the damn tweets with condolences to John Crawford, Jr., from movie stars, rappers, politicians, cameras whirling, where?? I guess there’s not a sufficient amount of African Americans in New Hope to mount a protest!!
Am I yelling into the wind!!! Are you listening??? I am sorry, but every, every, every police officer should turn in his weapon and police his/ her area without it. Who the hell are you protecting and serving?? Why is there an exception for young black men?? I said it before; that I am scared for my grandsons. If one of them dies at the hands of a police officer, if I’m alive, they’d better take me out too!!
I ask you, before this month, who knew about Ferguson MO and now, New Hope, MN? Why am I asking, we found out about Columbine and Aurora, and Sandy Hook for that matter, after those tragedies?) We didn’t protest enough and nothing happened.
I remember a sign in an auto repair shop in Connecticut, to wit:
“The beatings will continue so long as you do what you are doing and I have the whip!!”
So long as young black men come out in public and we willing to accept that cops see them as inhuman prey, the police will continue to kill them. You think fifty percent of white people care? Do they, with their bank accounts and stocks and Park Avenue pads or $700,000 homes or BMW’s and Hummers and jobs? They are oblivious to this PROBLEM! Their kids are addressed as ”Sir”, even to their sons who are druggies… they get probation and a rehab stint; Black men get choked because of “loosies” and shot because of toy guns or for walking down the street or for shopping!
This crap has to stop and the stupidity and absurdity of legally owning or possessing a weapon in our cities, towns and hamlets is a pile of manure. Want to have a gun, then move to the wilderness, civilized people do not need guns!!! We do not need cops to protect and serve… because their mindset will not allow it. They have been brainwashed to believe that they are authorized to kill…”It’s okay”, you say, we need to be safe. Don’t ask questions, don’t assess the situation, don’t use common sense; no, just f&%king shoot!!! “It’s a black guy, what the hell!!”
Where is the damn outrage??
I’m telling you, you’d better be sure he’s an armed criminal before you call the cops… because, if he’s a black man, and if you are wrong, you just served his death warrant.
Look it up…. A Black man is shot by a police officer every 28 hours!!! It’s proven; the only question is, who’s next and what’s his name….
Let me close this rant by saying that there are lots and lots of white folks who see these black murders as an outrage, just like me; but they need to talk about it with your friends, enemies, pastor, wife, children because this is not a African American problem, it is an AMERICAN problem…. We have to change the MENTALITY of the police, you have to…. Maybe, just maybe, that is why the next story may not be a shocker….
Why did he think that going to Syria would change his world?
Douglas McAuthur McCain a thirty three year old Black American man disappeared from his family after telling them he was going to vacation in Turkey. He had decided to become a Muslim some time before; after his family moved to New Hope, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. I understand he was on the watch list after the FBI lost track of him after he arrived in Turkey; deducing that he had crossed into Syria to join one of the terrorist groups in that country.
It came as a shock to his family when they were told the details of his demise. He evidently fought with ISIS and was killed in a firefight with Syrian forces. What made him think he was better off in that God-forsaken desolate dust bowl than he would have been here in the “Greatest Country in the World”!! What did some terrorist in that far off land or even here, say to him to get him to get on a plane and go to Syria? Where did he get the money? What made him think his “pot of gold” was way over there? I do not think it was all his fault. We, America, had something to do with it…..Think about that, America…think….
Hillary, you took the “rand-paul-way-out” after you were asked to comment on the Michael Brown matter at your book signing. You smiled and ignored the question. Not good enough, Hill-Ray!!
I hope you run and I will support you when you do, BUT you cannot, cannot, have nothing to say.
Just a general statement about letting the investigation run its course, or you believe justice will prevail, or condolences to the family, etc. would have sufficed. But you zipped your lip! Please do not make us feel you’ll run from a situation like this. We believe in you….so far…. You need to repair that faux pas. Ask Bill….but say something now because if you do not, it’s not going to go away.. We will still vote for you, but we do not want to see it as “the best of bad choices”.
Charles Belk Here we go again… (how many time have I said that?)
A statement from the Beverly Hills, CA Police Department defended the mistaken identity arrest of a black film producer, who accused the police of racial profiling.
“Within minutes of a robbery call being broadcast, police detained a subject less than a block away from the robbery (scene) who closely matched the clothing and physical characteristics of the male suspect,” the Beverly Hills Police Department said in a statement. “After an eyewitness positively identified the subject in a field show-up, police arrested Charles Belk for suspicion of robbery,” the statement said. Belk is a tall, bald African-American man.
The department also issued an apology to Charles Belk, who said that he was detained for hours before being released.
“The Beverly Hills Police Department deeply regrets the inconvenience to Mr. Belk and has reached out to him to express those regrets and further explain the circumstances,” the police statement said. A spokesman said the incident will be recorded as a detention, not an arrest.
“I get that the Beverly Hills Police Department didn’t know at the time that I was a law abiding citizen of the community and that in my 51 years of existence, had never been handcuffed or arrested for any reason. All they saw, was someone fitting the description. Doesn’t matter if he’s a “Taye Diggs BLACK”, a “LL Cool J BLACK”, or “a Drake BLACK”
In the hours prior to his arrest last Friday, Belk was busily promoting one of his clients at a pre-Emmy “Gifting Suite.” That’s where celebrities are offered a smorgasbord of goodies, provided free of charge by vendors who hope to get exposure from cultural “influencers.”
Belk’s client that afternoon was singer-songwriter and actor Olurotimi Akinosho, better known as Rotimi.
Afterwards, Belk told KPCC, he grabbed a bite to eat with a friend at a restaurant on Wilshire Blvd. His run-in with police occurred shortly after 5 p.m., when he went to check his parking meter.
“All of a sudden a Beverly Hills police officer pulls up in front of me on his motorcycle and says, ‘Excuse me, can you come here please?’” Belk recalled. Suddenly, he was handcuffed and sitting on the curb. It would be more than six hours before police released him, according to Belk.
Belk said he grew more frustrated when officers drove him back to the police station, took his fingerprints and mug shot and refused to allow him to call an attorney for several hours.
Belk, 51, said he overheard officers talking about a bank robbery at Citibank, near where he was picked up. He said he had nothing to do with it, and urged them to check footage from the bank’s security cameras. Belk said he was careful to cooperate.
“I did not want to do anything that would give them a reason to allow me to meet the same fate as other black males have met recently,” he said.
Born and raised in Durham, N.C., Belk holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Electrical Engineering from USC and an MBA from Indiana University.
The police statement said officers properly detained and arrested Belk “based on the totality of the circumstances.” Police department protocol requires that officers go through the process of “thoroughly verifying” that Belk was not the suspect before releasing him, the statement added. A police spokesman denied accusations the department delayed allowing Belk to call his attorney.
It’s unclear when police reviewed tape of the robbery from the bank’s security cameras. It was after that review that police decided to release Belk, according to the spokesman, Sgt. Matt Subin. Belk said his release came less than an hour after the FBI interviewed him and after his attorney arrived.
If police had looked at the security camera footage earlier, they would have known immediately he was not the bank robber’s accomplice, Belk said, because of the T-shirt he was wearing at the time.
“This is a designer green T-shirt with three buttons strategically placed,” he said. “I am absolutely positive that even if this guy is my identical twin, we didn’t have on the same green T-shirt.”

Well, we just gotta let everybody have a gun, Why stop at teenagers?
A nine–year–old girl was allowed to fire an Uzi submachine gun in White Hills, Arizona while her instructor positioned her finger on the trigger. The girl was taken to “Bullets and Burgers by parents, who must be real bright people. Anyway, the girl could not handle the recoil and in here imbalance, shot threeinstructor in the head. “Terrible accident” they said, whe won’t let nine year olds shoot war weapons anymore; but we’ll let ten years olds do it!!
Why would anyone let a under-teen shoot a war weapon? Nah, it’s okay, we love guns….A guy’s dead…it’s his fault.. he didn’t pay attention….. We’ll do it again next week…
Used to be “Mac and Fries”; now it’s “Mac and guns”!! What the heck, we gotta make money some way!! Now she’s ready for street warfare… maybewe make he an honorary cop and send her to the next black protest…
A big “whoop-de-doo” over the right to lean back in your airplane seat and inconvenience the person behind you.
The news pundits who don’t get enough sleep flying around to get their stories, think it’s okay to grab forty winks while they fly. I do not agree. I’m 6’4” and I do not expect total slumber-bed comfort when I fly; what I do expect is not to have my knees bruised and scraped by some idiot who brings his/her pillow, blanket and nursing bottle so he/ she can snore up a storm. They want to be comfortable, so do I! And I’m not paying extra for some sitting room. The airlines screw you with its “pie-in-the-sky” fares. The whole plane’s going to the same destination, but we all pay anywhere from thousands more to hundreds less to get wherever you’re going. How’d you like that at the grocery store? Anyway, if someone wants to sleep, not in my freaking lap! I don’t put my seat back, plus half the time, the pilot is telling us to buckle up and sit up. I don’t need a “Knee Defender”, my legs will get the job done! And if you want to arm wrestle me over it, I’m ready; believe me you won’t want to sleep afterwards, the pain in your body won’t let you.
Happy birthday brother, what a guy, maybe one day, I’ll tell you about him… my oldest brother, first one to hook me on baseball. Taught me to play the guitar, tried the accordion, a disaster! He made the front page of the Daily News in 1941. Big track and wrestling star… blind from birth!! Up in Heaven….now….always remembered
Enough said, I’m out!!
