A fond remembrance of Ruby Dee, the little elegant lady with the big voice and a talent so enormous that defied the size of the role or the screen setting she was on.
We claim her as ours, a pure New Yorker. After all that’s where she did all her growing up and learned her craft and inspired her husband to greater heights in the entertainment world. A staunch civil rights activist, and a supporter of liberal causes, she, with her husband, Ossie Davis (dec’d), was at the forefront when it came to speaking out against injustice. World renowned, I will not recount her achievements, except to say she was a pioneer and a well-respected for her stage and silver screen roles, garnering so many awards.
We will miss you, RIP, dear lady……….
Condolences to her family and friends.
