Unemployment Benefits, Immoral???
Immoral? Say the republicans when talking about extending unemployment INSURANCE benefits.
I’ll tell what is immoral; the republican segment that thinks that unemployed people do not want to work. What immoral is, is not paying a living wage to those who have work; what is immoral is that the rich’s earnings have grown over 200% while most workers’ wages have remained stagnant in the last twenty years. What immoral is thinking that the Federal government has no obligation to give those who are down on their luck. What is immoral, is punishing people who suffered through the worst recession since 1929, and lost all their assets to greedy banks and mortgage companies, yet their future is darkened by what the industry wants to call a “FICO” score, whereby despite every effort to regain a financial foothold in society is thwarted by the very institution that got them in the dire situation hay find themselves in.
What is immoral is the rhetoric from the republican faction that attempts to demonize our President. Just the other day, an elected member of Congress, republican, of course, allowed a constituent (I could use another noun, but I won’t) to call the duly elected President of our nation, a son of a b**th! In a public forum! And he nodded in assent to her characterization!
So, you republicans, especially you BLACK republicans, who is immoral? I could go on but are other issues.
Quickly two. Minimum wage and the stagnant wages and the adjunct to that, women’s wages; the republicans are dead set against moving positively on these issues. I have two daughters who are working their butts off to raise families so it does get personal. Why should they be paid less than a man for the same work? And men? Why don’t you want your spouse, friend, lady to earn more?
Last….Chase Bank just gave their president and CEO a whopping 74% increase in salary…after that BANK HAS BEEN FINED BILLIONS OF DOLLARS for illegal activities or lax procedures and other sordid actions! He now makes $20 million per year. He can’t have a decent life on say, seven million? And hire more folks and pay lower wage worker more? How do we stop these ignoble ideas and actions that seem to permeate the republican base? By electing Democrats who believe in fair wages, fair pay and support for common folks’ fight for dignity.
Then there is the immigration issue; the republican continue to put false reasons for not letting 13 million people come out of community shadows.
Do not sleep on the 2014 elections…I’m telling you, if you do not work hard and vote to take the House and keep the Senate, President Obama’s last two years will be an afterthought. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
